St. Barbara ParishAlmost 100 years ago, during the reign of Pope St. Pius X, a handful of devout laity met to discuss establishment of a Catholic church in Brookfield, Illinois. At that time, Brookfield was just another Burlington Railroad stop, with dirt roads, wood sidewalks and gas lights; a community of about 350 residents. Progress was slow and difficulties encountered but the seed fell on fertile ground and spread roots. Today, St. Barbara is blessed with over 1,700 parishioners.
In 2012, St. Barbara Parish will celebrate 100 years of faith in our community. Many much needed infrastructure improvements are slated for the Parish building, including a new audio system. In addition, 2012 will be full of celebratory events for the parish community!
