St. Barbara School![]() ST. BARBARA SCHOOL PRESENTSMARDI GRAS IN MAY Mardi Gras Saturday, May 17th Time is running out... The day is getting closer... We need to boost ticket sales... Please don't wait any longer... As discussed at the Town Hall meeting, this fundraiser is VITAL! We do not want to begin our next school year with a deficit. Please, please get some friends together and come and have a fun evening while helping your children. It benefits all of us! So much planning is going into making this event a success. WE NEED EVERYONE'S HELP! Mostly, we need people to attend. We need to have a count in order to purchase food, plan the table set up, etc. The deadline for ticket sales is Wednesday, May 7th. Thank you.PRINCIPAL NOTES: On March 6th, the seventh and eighth graders went to Springfield, Illinois! They had an amazing time! They learned about our state government as well as Abraham Lincoln and the Civil War. They even got the chance to go onto the Senate Floor in our Capitol Building and meet Senator Tony Munoz! He is the uncle of Brittany Munoz, our seventh grader. He let the students sit in the Senators' chairs and then spoke with them about his job and how important a good education is! He even showed us which chair used to be Barack Obama's Senate chair! It was such a great opportunity and an amazing day for the students! It is a day they will never forget! Thank you to everyone who helped them raise money to go on this wonderful field trip! Thank you Ms. Miller for all of your efforts in organizing this event for the students. Best wishes to our 8th graders who received the Sacrament of Confirmation last Friday, April 25th! Thanks to all who helped and the 7th grade school and Religious Education parents who contributed to the Confirmation reception. Many compliments were received because of your help! Father Mark was a priest at our parish. As we got to know him, we also became aware of the people of his village in Uganda. The economic level of this village is below the poverty line. In the past, the 8th graders have raised money to buy such animals as pigs, goats, and chickens. Once again, we are raising money to help the villagers. The 8th grade students will be selling Easter eggs for 50 cents each. The eggs are filled with gift certificates from such businesses as Cafe Salsa, Build-A-Bear Workshops, Chili's, Walgreen's, candy and cookies from Trader Joes, and other prizes. Our EGGFEST will take place from March 10th through March 14th. Please see attachment. FSA
